Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: DB2 R910 users who use XML * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: PRECONDITIONING APAR to support * * 13 more XPath functions: * * fn:name, fn:local-name, * * fn:max, fn:min, fn:distinct-values, * * fn:upper-case, fn:lower-case, * * fn:translate, fn:last, fn:position, * * fn:matches, fn:replace, fn:tokenize. * * * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** PK55585 and PK55831 introduce 13 more XPath functions: fn:name, fn:local-name, fn:max,fn:min,fn:distinct-values,fn:upper-case,fn:lower-case, fn:translate,fn:last,fn:position,fn:matches,fn:replace, fn:tokenize. The changes are documented in the latest version of the XML Guide (SC18-9858-03). PK55585 is the preconditioning APAR. Example 1: fn:tokenize breaks /a into a sequence of strings, treating any substring that matches (ab) or (a) as a separator. The separators are not returned. The answer of this example is r c d r SELECT XMLSERIALIZE( XMLQUERY('fn:tokenize(/a, "(ab) | (a)", "x")' PASSING XMLPARSE(DOCUMENT 'abracadabra')) AS CLOB(20)) FROM SYSIBM.SYSDUMMYU; Example 2: fn:position returns the first position of /a/b. The answer of this example is 1. SELECT XMLSERIALIZE( XMLQUERY('/a/b fn:position()=1 ' PASSING XMLPARSE('123')) AS CLOB(20)) FROM SYSIBM.SYSDUMMYU;

Comments
PK55585 is the preconditioning APAR and PK55831 is the enabling APAR for the 13 new XPath functions. PK55585 should be applied before PK55831.
