Error description
On Linux, when importing a binary file by clearfsimport the foll owing error occurs: text_file_delta: Error: /home/test/test is not a 'text file': it contains a '\000'. This object's type does not support check-in of binary data. Use a different type manager (such as compressed file). clearfsimport: Error: Type manager text_file_delta failed create_version operation. clearfsimport: Error: Could not checkin ./test. clearfsimport: Warning: Trouble importing element ./test. Closing directories. No change in version /main/2 of directory . clearfsimport: Error: Trouble was encountered importing the foll owing elements: ./test When importing the same file on Windows this error does not occu r and the file is imported as a compressed_file.
Local fix
Problem summary
ClearCase operations that assume file type (clearfsimport, file, etc.) may mistakenly suppose binary files are text files when in multibyte locales.
Problem conclusion
Fixed in ClearCase 7.0.0.3 and 7.0.1.2
