Error description

  • CSOL stops issuing ACCEPT to TCPIP once a non-zero return code
is received from OMVS on the ACCEPT. In this case the error
    BPX1AIO ACCEPT FAILED, RC = 0000007F RSN = 1102024D was issued
by telnet which indicated JRMAXSOCKETS. The system wide socket
limit was reached. A close/open of TCPIPSERVICE is required to
clear the problem of CSOL refusing ACCEPTs, after the reason for
the bad Return Code is corrected. A message from CICS regarding
the problem CSOL has encountered is needed.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The ACCEPT call for a TCPIPSERVICE *
    * fails and is not re-issued by CICS. *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
The CICS TCPIP listener task (CSOL) processes incoming
connections via an outstanding ACCEPT. After processing the
connection it issues another ACCEPT waiting for more work.
This ACCEPT fails leaving the listener task unable to
accept further connections for this TCPIPSERVICE.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHSOLS has been amended to issue a new message, DFHSO0130,
and deregister the TCPIPSERVICE, when a non zero return code
is passed back from a BpxAsyncio ACCEPT call.

The CICS Transaction Server for z/OS 3.1 Messages
and Codes book, GC34-6442-03, has been updated with the
new message DFHSO0130 inserted at page 869 after message
    DFHSO0129A as follows:

DFHSO0130 DATE TIME APPLID A TCPIP ACCEPT
              call has failed. The TCPIPSERVICE
TCPIPSERVICE on port PORTNUMBER , at
IP address IPADDRESS will be closed. The
              values returned are bpx_return_value( BPX
              RETURN VALUE ), bpx_return_code(
               BPX_RETURN_CODE ), and bpx_reason_code(
               BPX_REASON_CODE ).

EXPLANATION: A TCP/IP ACCEPT call has returned an error.

SYSTEM ACTION: An exception trace entry is made in the
trace table. No system dump is taken, unless you have
specifically requested a dump in the dump table.

CICS continues unless you have specified in the dump table
    that CICS should terminate.

The TCPIPSERVICE tcpipservice on port portnumber
at the specified IP address is shutdown. When this shutdown
is complete message DFHSO0108 is issued.

The return value, return code and reason code reported by
Unix System Services are displayed to aid with diagnostics.

USER RESPONSE: Determine the reason for the ACCEPT
failure. The return code and reason code included in the
message text are described in the z/OS UNIX System Services
Messages and Codes manual. A possible cause of this error
is if TCP/IP has reached MAXSOCKETS. Check the system
console for any messages issued by TCP/IP and take the
    recovery action indicated.

The TCPIPSERVICE tcpipservice is closed, and after the
TCP/IP problem has been resolved, the closed TCPIPSERVICE
    should be reopened.

    DESTINATION: Console

    MODULE: DFHSOLS

    XMEOUT PARAMETERS: date, time, applid,
    tcpipservice, portnumber, ipaddress,
    bpx return value, bpx_return_code,
    bpx_reason_code
