Error description
You have a CICS (LMAS) region that is connecting to the CMAS, but after you have successfully install your resources (EYUBN0099I), you see message EYUNL0901, normal shutdown entered on the LMAS job log. There are not any error messages in the JESMSGLOG or the EYULOG of the CMAS. We found that EYU0XSRS is requesting a global lock for EYU0XELK and gets a response of XELK_QUEUE_NOT_AVAILABLE (X'14'). This causes XSRS to issue the trace entry with the debug text of INSUFSTG. At the time of the failure EYU9XEUT is executed requesting the dump of the locks: Total number of Resource Queues 131,072 Number of Resource Queues in use 131,060 ( 99.9%) - You may also encounter a problem where a MAS connecting to another CMAS may not JOIN the CICSplex in the LOCAL LPAR. This problem normally occurs when there are multiple CMAS's running at the same release in a single LPAR. In this confiuration CMAS's share the lock structure from the single ESSS.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICSPlex/SM V3R1M0 Users * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: You see Topology Connect and Join * * failures after several hundred MASes * * have already conected to a plex. You * * see message EYUTS0002E in the CMAS * * joblog, and you may also see message * * . * * EYUNL0901I LRT NORMAL termination * * initiated * * . * * in the LMAS job log. The AUXTRACE for * * the the CMAS and any affected LMAS's * * contains user exception records written * * by method XSRS (EYU0XSRS - Global Lock * * Registration), with a Debug text of * * INSUFSTG. A dump of the global lock * * manager via the EYU9XEUT program showed * * 131,060 out of 131,072 global lock ele- * * ments were in use. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTFs that resolve this * * APAR, all CPSM Environment Services System * * Services (ESSS) Address Spaces must be * * restarted before any CMASes, MASes or CPSM * * API programs are run which access the * * updated code. The ESSS may be restarted in * * two ways : * * * * 1 - IPL the MVS Image. * * * * Or, if an IPL is not possible: * * * * 2 - Stop all CMASes and MASes on the MVS * * image. * * - Use EYU9XENF to check that no Address * * Spaces are connected to the ESSS. * * - Use the EYU9XEUT TERMINATE function to * * stop the ESSS service address space. * * - Refresh LLA to ensure the updated * * version of EYU9X310 is picked up. * * - Restart the CMASes and MASes, ensuring * * that the updated libraries are being * * picked up. * * * * For details on EYU9XENF and the EYU9XEUT * * TERMINATE function refer to the manual "CICS * * Transaction Server for z/OS CICSPlex SM * * Problem Determination Version 3 Release 1" * * (GC34-6472-xx). * * * * Note that each MVS image can be updated * * separately, and systems on an MVS image that * * are using the new code can communicate with * * systems on other MVS images that are not yet * * using the new code. * **************************************************************** CPSM locking is implemented in the ESSS Subsystem; a pool of 131,072 resource lock blocks is maintained in the private area of the EYUX310 address space on each LPAR. If multiple CMASes managing the same plex reside on a single MVS image, the need to maintain resource topology cache lists for all MASes in the plex in each CMAS's TOP cache data space may cause the resource lock block pool to be exhausted. This may result in failures including, but not limited to, failure to complete CMAS-to-CMAS connections when new CMASes become active, failure of Topology Connect or Join to complete, and failures in methods which create new queues or cache lists, because new global locks cannot be registered. This is more likely to occur when two CMASes running the same release of CPSM are started in the same MVS image.
Problem conclusion
The global lock pool, which is allocated from the extended private area of the EYUX310 address space when the ESSS is initialized, was increased to 262,144 lock elements and 524,288 Holder/Waiter elements.
