Error description

• When we was upgrading our production system from 1.4 to 1.7 we
  got
   serious problem with our APL2-web servers (FMID HLO1222). We
  got:
   AP2X119005  Abend.  Shared variable set retracted for AP119
  FIXCAT:  ZOS0204C/K ZOS0205C/K ZOS0301C/K

Problem summary

• ****************************************************************
  * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the APL2 TCP/IP interface,          *
  *                 AP 119, on z/OS.                             *
  ****************************************************************
  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Abend 0C4 in component AP2X119 after    *
  *                      issuing a SELECT command.               *
  *                      Other symptoms may include random       *
  *                      non-zero data returned for the          *
  *                      TCP/IP return and reason code even      *
  *                      though no error has occured, or         *
  *                      zero returned for the TCP/IP return     *
  *                      and reason code when an error has       *
  *                      occured.                                *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  After return from the TCP/IP SELECT command, AP 119 was using
  the wrong register to address the control block containing the
  TCP/IP error information.  Depending on whether the register
  pointed to storage owned by the APL2 process, abends or
  bad error information in the AP 119 result could occur.
  

Problem conclusion

• AP 119 has been changed to use the correct register to
  obtain the error information.
