Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of WebSphere Application Server * * version 6 who enable servlet serving by * * class name. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If servlet serving by class name is * * enabled and a null (empty) servlet * * name is specified, a * * NullPointerException will be thrown. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When servlet serving by class name is enabled and a null (empty) servlet name is specified, a missing logic check will cause a NullPointerException to be thrown.
Problem conclusion
The servlet name logic checking has been fixed to prevent a NullPointerException from being thrown. In the case that a null (empty) servlet name is specified, a "no target for URI" exception will be thrown. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fixpack 6.0.2.13 and 6.1.0.1.
