APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• fail to update hamanagerservice.xml prevents core groups
  from talking to each other when migration moves servers
  into custom core groups.

Problem summary

  * USERS AFFECTED: Customers migrating to WebSphere Application *
  *                 Server version 6.x who have clustered        *
  *                 servers, and will be changing the servers    *
  *                 to not be in the default core group.         *

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When users in a mixed cell alter the    *
  *                      core group distribution of the mixed    *
  *                      clusters, you may find that clustered   *
  *                      servers on nodes migrated after this    *
  *                      change do not properly communicate.     *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  If you make changes to core groups in a mixed cell, you may
  see that your clusters do not properly bridge core groups
  (specifically that clusters do not communicate properly) and
  would be frustrated that the HA does not appear to work
  correctly.
  

Problem conclusion

• This patch will properly update the hamanagerservice.xml for
  clustered servers so that they point to the correct
  core group.
  
  The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion
  in fixpacks 6.0.2.13 and 6.1.0.1.
