APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
Summary: A Resource Environment Provider name cannot contain special characters, like the colon. This is easily reproducible: 1) Go to the Admin Console 2) Click Resources 3) Click Resource Environment Providers 4) Click New 5) For "Name" put "Hello:" 6) An error "Name is not a valid entry" This is the scenario from Portal development: "Basically what we are trying to do is to create a resource environment provider entry within the resources.xml (via wsadmin and WAS admin console) either on node or on cluster scope. Background: Portal does store properties in such resource environment provider buckets and we need them to contain at least ':' in the name.

Validation was done for that field to restict special characters. Steps to Reach : ----------------- 1) Go to the Administrative Console 2) Click Resources 3) Click Resource Environment Providers 4) Click New 5) For "Name" put "Hello:" 6) An error "Name is not a valid entry"
Problem conclusion
We made the required validation to allow special character colon ':" as a character in between the name but have restricted it to be entered at the front of the name. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fixpack 6.0.2.13 and 6.1.0.2 ...
