APAR NUMBER: PJ41194 PRODUCT: z/TPF FUNCTIONAL AREA: MESSAGE ROUTER SHIPPED IN PUT: 10 ABSTRACT: A SNAP-3C6 system error may occur when the system routes a message to the PRC. PACKAGE CONTENTS: Source Segments: (C) base/rt/capn.asm (C) base/rt/capp.asm Object Only Binaries: None. Configuration Independent Binaries: (C) base/load/CAPN.so (C) base/load/CAPP.so (C) base/obj/capn.o (C) base/obj/capp.o Support Files: base/lst/capn.lst base/lst/capp.lst base/lst/CAPN.map base/lst/CAPP.map OTHER BINARIES TO BUILD: NO None. COMMENTS: Within z/TPF, certain functions need to send notifications to the system console (PRC). If these functions use the method of building a message and an RCPL in order to ROUTC the message, then one of the requirements is to build the proper device type into the RCPL. One of the functions which uses this method is the system time-initiated command processing (ZSTIM) package, which allows the system to automatically enter customer-defined commands on certain time intervals. In the case of the time-initiated command processing, if an error occurs while attempting to enter one of these commands into the system, the processing will then build a message and attempt to ROUTC it to the PRC. However, the processing placed a hard-coded 1052-type device type in the RCPL which it was building. In the case of a customer environment which has 3270 console support configured on their system, the attempt to ROUTC the s-timer error message to the PRC will, instead, result in a SNAP-3C6 dump, as the message was not formatted properly to be sent to a 3270 type device. The system alerts package needs to be modified to properly set the device type to be placed in the RCPL, based on the system console type, in order to have the message properly formatted for the corresponding console type.
SOLUTION: Within the time-initiated command processing package, realtime segments CAPN and CAPP have been modified to set the appropriate device type of the console into the RCPL based on interrogating the device type saved in the PRC's WGTA entry. This correction will allow the message to be properly formatted for the corresponding console type. COREQS: NO None. MIGRATION CONSIDERATIONS: NO None.
