Problem summary
APAR NUMBER: PJ41039 PRODUCT: z/TPF FUNCTIONAL AREA: CONTINUOUS DATA COLLECTION (CDC) SHIPPED IN PUT: 10 ABSTRACT: CDC Routed Entries per Sec is always zero with PJ32427 applied PACKAGE CONTENTS: Source Segments: (C) base/rt/cdco.c (C) base/rt/cdcist.asm Object Only Binaries: None. Configuration Independent Binaries: (C) base/load/CDCO.so (C) base/load/CDCP.so (C) base/obj/cdcist.o (C) base/obj/cdco.o Support Files: base/lst/cdcist.lst base/lst/cdco.lst base/lst/CDCO.map base/lst/CDCP.map OTHER BINARIES TO BUILD: NO None. COMMENTS: The Cointinuous Data Collection (CDC) Routed Entries per Sec value reported in the Tivoli Monitor Agent for z/TPF I-Stream attribute group always displays zeros. The cause of the zeros is an incorrect MVC instruction in source file cdcist.asm causing data to be retreived from address 4.
Problem conclusion
SOLUTION: The MVC is fixed to correctly collect routed entries from 0 off regsiter 4. The CDC value is now correct and the Tivoli display is no longer always zeros. An additional change is being made. On ZCDCO STOP message CDCO0067E - CONTINUOUS DATA COLLECTION UNABLE TO RELEASE STORAGE is being removed. Message CDCO0067E happens when tpf_rsysc() gives an error return. In this case tpf_rsysc() uses a unique token identifier. The only possible error is that the unique token identifier does not exist. This means that either the system heap was never obtained or another process previously released the system heap. If either case happens, it is not an error. The end result is that at the end of ZCDCO STOP the system heap used for CDC is no longer used. COREQS: NO None. MIGRATION CONSIDERATIONS: NO None.
