Problem summary
APAR NUMBER: PJ40836 PRODUCT: z/TPF FUNCTIONAL AREA: CLOCKS SHIPPED IN PUT: 10 ABSTRACT: Due to the special STP configuration APAR PJ39209, the TOD clock on a processor in a loosely coupled complex may not be confirmed. PACKAGE CONTENTS: Source Segments: (C) hpo/rt/cqak.asm Object Only Binaries: None. Configuration Independent Binaries: (C) hpo/obj/cqak.o (C) hpo/load/CQAK.so Support Files: hpo/lst/cqak.lst hpo/lst/CQAK.map OTHER BINARIES TO BUILD: NO None. COMMENTS: When the special STP configuration is used in a loosely coupled complex, there is only one processor whose entry in keypoint I (CTKI) shows that its TOD clock is confirmed. The processor where ZATIM xxxx TOD GOOD SSTP was input shows as TOD clock confirmed. The CTKI entry for all other processors show that the TOD clock is not confirmed. The processor where ZATIM xxxx TOD GOOD SSTP is input is the TOD clock master processor. When a processor in the loosely coupled complex is IPLed, the TOD clock must be confirmed. When the special STP configuration is used and when the CTKI entry for the IPLing processor does not show TOD clock confirmation, a SIPCC is done to all other processors in the complex requesting TOD clock confirmation. Because the TOD clock master processor is the only processor whose CTKI entry shows TOD clock confirmed, only the TOD clock master processor responds to the SIPCC request. If the TOD clock master processor is taken out of the complex and another processor IPLs, no processor will respond to the SIPCC request for TOD clock confirmation. As a result the processor that is IPLing will stop is restart waiting for TOD clock confirmation. In order to allow the processor to continue in restart, the operator will need to do ZATIM xxxx TOD GOOD SSTP BP on the processor. As a result the TOD clock master processor will change. When the special STP configuration is used, all processors in the loosely coupled complex should be shown as TOD clock confirmed in CTKI. This will eliminate the problem of having to do a ZATIM xxxx TOD GOOD SSTP BP when a processor is IPLed and the master TOD processor is not in the loosely coupled complex.
Problem conclusion
SOLUTION: Program CQAK has been updated. The purpose of the change is to show the TOD clock as confirmed in CTKI for all processors and not just the TOD clock master processor. When the special STP configuration is used and a processor IPLs, a SIPCC is sent to all processors. When a response is received from a processor whose TOD clock is confirmed, program CQAK is entered. CQAK has been changed to not set indicator "incompatible with sync source" (SC0TACC) if the special STP configuration is in use. Because SC0TACC is not set CQAK will updates CTKI to show that this processor's TOD clock is confirmed. COREQS: NO None. MIGRATION CONSIDERATIONS: NO None.
