  When there is a timeout on a write operation issued to the dump
  tape then the dump is aborted and no tape switch occurs.

  COMMENTS:
  If a system error occurs that requires writing more data than
  will fit into the Dump Buffer Area then CCCPSE must write some
  of that data directly to the tape instead of letting it remain
  in the DBA. If one of these writes fails because the write
  command does not complete in the allocated amount of time then
  the dump is aborted and no tape switch occurs. This leaves a
  potentially unusable device as the active dump tape and
  subsequent attempts to use the drive can result in the same
  failure.
