PJ40772: NO TAPE SWITCH FORCED BY CCCPSE
Closed as program error.
See Problem Summary.
APAR NUMBER: PJ40772 PRODUCT: z/TPF FUNCTIONAL AREA: TAPE I/O AND ERROR RECOVERY SHIPPED IN PUT: 10 ABSTRACT: When there is a timeout on a write operation issued to the dump tape then the dump is aborted and no tape switch occurs. PACKAGE CONTENTS: Source Segments: (C) base/cp/cedt.cpy Object Only Binaries: None. Configuration Independent Binaries: None. Support Files: None. OTHER BINARIES TO BUILD: YES (C) <sys>/obj/cccpse.o (C) <sys>/load/CPS0.so COMMENTS: If a system error occurs that requires writing more data than will fit into the Dump Buffer Area then CCCPSE must write some of that data directly to the tape instead of letting it remain in the DBA. If one of these writes fails because the write command does not complete in the allocated amount of time then the dump is aborted and no tape switch occurs. This leaves a potentially unusable device as the active dump tape and subsequent attempts to use the drive can result in the same failure.
SOLUTION: Segment CEDT in CSECT CCCPSE has been updated so that a tape switch will be attempted if a timeout occurs on a write operation to the dump tape. COREQS: NO None. MIGRATION CONSIDERATIONS: NO None. BUILD COMMANDS AND INSTRUCTIONS: YES #maketpf commands for linux maketpf -f CPS0 cccpse.o maketpf CPS0 link UPDATED INFORMATION UNITS: NO None.
