PJ40411: CE JAVA API ALLOWS DOCUMENTS WITH STORAGEPOLICY=NULL AND STORAGEAREA=NULL TO BE CREATED WHEN USING CONTENTREFERENCES

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When using FileNet Content Engine Java API for creation of
documents, which consist only of content references, setting the
storagepolicy explicitly to null can lead to creation of
documents, which have null-values for the storage area and
storage policy. This violates content engine data model, and can
lead to errors during document deletion, or when
    applying versioning.

Through this fix, Content Engine Java API will detect this
condition, and raise an exception instead of creating the
    document.

Local fix

  • Set the column storage_area_id to a valid
storage area, for affected documents, on database level. Be sure
to have a valid backup of the database before you do this. After
performing the change, the documents can be deleted using
    FileNet Enterprise Manager.
