Problem summary

  • APAR NUMBER: PJ40251
    PRODUCT: z/TPF
FUNCTIONAL AREA: DATA ALTER AND DISPLAY
    SHIPPED IN PUT: 9

    ABSTRACT:
Due to PJ31925,OPR-4 may occur on a ZIFIL entry without a
    closing quote.

    PACKAGE CONTENTS:
    Source Segments:
    (C) base/rt/cybd.asm

    Object Only Binaries:

    Configuration Independent Binaries:
    (C) base/obj/cybd.o
    (C) base/load/CYBD.so

    Support Files:
    base/lst/cybd.lst
    base/lst/CYBD.map

    OTHER BINARIES TO BUILD: NO
    None.

    COMMENTS:
Two problems with ZIFIL. The first problem is when ZIFIL is
entered with a missing closing quote of a full pathname, the
    user gets an OPR-4.
The second problem is if the user enters /dev/tpf_tape in upper
case, z/tpf creates a directory /DEV/TPF_TAPE and write the
file to that directory instead of a tape. That can lead to too
many files getting written in the z/tpf file system.

Problem conclusion

  • SOLUTION:
This apar fixes the OPR-4 when the closing quote of a full
pathname is missing. CYBD will check if the end of the message
is reached before the ending quote. That prevents from checking
end of message storage area which can lead to OPR-4.

The second problem is addressed by not accepting directory name
/DEV/TPF_TAPE in ZIFIL. Error IFIL0011E 10.21.25 SYNTAX ERROR,
will be issue if that directory is entered as part of the ZIFIL
    command
