  • Problem description:
    
    SQL Count(*) function in MQT creates Nullable column if the Data
    type is missing.
    
    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Create a LUW datamodel.
    2. Add Table with couple of columns in it.
    3. Add MQT with SQL as SELECT Column1, COUNT(*) AS C FROM
    Schema.Table1 GROUP BY Column2.
    4. Click Validate.
    
    Actual Results: The MQT has two columns Column1 and C. The C
    column is Nullable and does not have a datatype.
    
    Expected Results: The C column should not be nullable and should
    be of integer type.
    
    CQ defect wsdbu00712877 has been created for this issue for
    InfoSphere Warehouse V9.7.1.
    
    Workaround: None

Problem conclusion

  • This problem has been fixed in version 9.7 Fixpack 1 interim
    fix. At a minimum, the latest V9.7.1 interim fix should be
    applied on the Design Studio.
    
    After applying the fix, SQL Count(*) function in MQT will not
    always creates Nullable column if the Data type is missing.
