Error description

  • A complex report is returning incomplete or incorrect data when
    executed as CSV in Compatible Query Mode.
    The report contains a cast to date on a varchar field, which due
    to incorrect data entry, contains a non existing date (ie.
    February 30th). The expectation is that the report fails.
    Instead the report returns data until the incorrect row, but is
    not failing. The database error is visible in the traces, but is
    ignored in the report execution.
    It appears that if the incorrect date is returned within the
    first cursors to the database, the report execution is aborted.
    However if returned in a later cursor the behavior is present.
    
    
    Imagine the following examples:
    1 - row with correct date
    2 - row with correct date
    3 - row with correct date
    4 - row with correct date
    ...
    140000 - row with incorrect date
    140001 - row with correct date
    ...
    149997 - row with correct date
     -> report executed as csv is returning < 140000 rows,
    expectation: report should fail
    
    
    1 - row with correct date
    2 - row with correct date
    3 - row with incorrect date
    4 - row with correct date
    ...
    140000 - row with correct date
    140001 - row with correct date
    ...
    149997 - row with correct date
     -> report fails, as expected
    
    
    
    Imagine the following examples:
    1 - row with correct date
    2 - row with correct date
    3 - row with correct date
    4 - row with correct date
    ...
    140000 - row with incorrect date excluded due to filter
    140001 - row with correct date
    ...
    149997 - row with correct date
     -> report executed as csv is returning all 149997 rows, except
    the excluded row. As expected.
