PI94183: FILTER CONDITION DIALOG LOADS FOREVER AND NEVER RETURNS RESULTS WHEN FILTERING A COLUMN WITH MANY ROWS

Error description

  • When creating a filter condition on a column that has a large
    number of rows, the "Filter Condition" dialog spins forever
    while loading the results and never returns. After a while, the
    CPU on the server is pegged at 100% usage.
    

Local fix

  • 1. Create filters using the Detail Filter area in the query
    editor.
    
    2. Select Edit filters... | Add | Advanced, resulting in the
    same dialog as

    3. Right-click on the query item in the Source pane and select
    Filter for report..., click the New button below the Selected
    values: list box, and type the value they want. This works
    because it produces the old (functional) Filter condition
    dialog.
