APAR status

Error description

• In IDAA environments only, the CDC z/OS replication engine
  can experience data loss, unprocessed signals or ABENDS in
  the DSL task with L=CHCDSLMN.CHCDSLGP.004980 in the title.
  The issue occurs when there are two or more accelerators if
  one of the accelerators is running with an unchanged
  configuration while the other is actively processing
  IDAA-specific signals to add or drop tables.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The sharing of a table screening list   *
  *                      in a task's heap storage with another   *
  *                      task can lead to corruption of the      *
  *                      screening list.                         *
  *                                                              *
  *                      In one scenario the corrupted screening *
  *                      list no longer contains in-scope tables *
  *                      or the signal table and the             *
  *                      corresponding log records are skipped.  *
  *                                                              *
  *                      In another scenario when the non-owning *
  *                      task attempts a binary search on the    *
  *                      screening list, the search may access   *
  *                      unacquired virtual storage, causing a   *
  *                      Program Interrupt 004/010/011.  This is *
  *                      intercepted and handled by producing a  *
  *                      system dump, and the subscription ends  *
  *                      in error.                               *

  Silent data loss, unprocessed signals, or a system dump from the
  DSL task may occur due to shared heap storage.
  

Problem conclusion

• The table screening list is copied from the heap storage as soon
  as it is made known to the screening task.  Only the copy is
  used by the screening task thereafter.
