PI90331: WQ : CHIN FAILS WITH ABN=5C6-00940001 DUE TO INVALID SEQUENCE OF XA FLOWS FROM CLIENT

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Chin abend with ABN=5C6-00940001 due to invalid
  sequence of XA flows from client
  
  Queue manager is abending rather then rejecting the
  incorrect XA call.
  

Local fix

• investigate the client application to determine the incorrect
  sequence of xa calls
  

Problem summary

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: XA_START calls are incorrectly accepted *
  *                      from applications while they are still  *
  *                      associated with a previous XA           *
  *                      transaction, resulting in unexpected    *
  *                      behaviour on subsequent calls.          *
  ****************************************************************
  An application which is actively associated with an XA
  transaction should not be able to successfully start a new XA
  transaction through a XA_START call. However this is not being
  correctly restricted. If used with CSQSERVICE1, this can result
  in other XA calls being unable to correctly find the associated
  XID, resulting in various abends, including 5C6-00940001 when
  XA_END is issued for a started XID.
  

Problem conclusion

• XA processing has been changed to correctly reject XA_START when
  an application is already associated with an XA transaction for
  non-TMF MQ applications.
