Error description

  • request to the context root without a trailing slash gets
directed to the same request URL and adding a trailing slash
but the query string was not added to the redirect URL.

this only happens when the following WebContainer custom
    property is set:

    Name: com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.redirectcontextroot
    value: true

Local fix

  • As a workaround, if the customer doesn't need the redirect to
happen before applying any filters, they can unset the custom
property and the redirect will happen correctly.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
If a request is made to the context root with a missing
    trailing slash, and the
    com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.redirectcontextroot WebContainer
custom property is set to true, the query string of the
request is not appended to the redirect URL.

Problem conclusion

  • The WebContainer has been modified to append the original
query string when appending the trailing slash and redirecting.

A new WebContainer custom property needs to be set to true to
    enable this behavior.

    Name: com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.redirectcontextrootwithquerystring
    values: true/false(default)

This new property will override the value of
    com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.redirectContextRoot. Both properties
do not need to be enabled at the same time, only the new one
is needed for the new behavior to be enabled.

Please refer to the following technote for instructions on
    enabling WebContainer custom properties:
