APAR status

Error description

  • The install of WXS fails with an error stating that the Java
version is incorrect even if Java 8 is installed.

Error seen:

Package IBM WebSphere
eXtreme Scale for WebSphere Application Server requires a
minimum SDK Java Technology Edition Version 7.0 or higher

*                  eXtreme Scale Client 8.6.1.0 or higher.     *

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: WXS Client is unable to be installed    *
*                      with WAS 8.5.5 because Java 8 is        *
*                      required even if Java 8 is installed    *
*                      with WAS                                *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
****************************************************************
WAS 8.5.5 can optionally install Java 8 as its runtime using a
user property in the response file which is not identified by
WXS causing the installation to fail.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • A fix in the installation code was done to determine the
installed java level based on the user property and an iterim
fix is made available for this
