Error description

The JSP engine is not processing EL expressions correctly when
they are in large blocks of character data. The JSP is not
compiled properly, and the value is incorrectly displayed.

When an EL expression is used within a large block of text,
the expression might be escaped even though such expression
did not have a preceding escape character ('\').

Problem conclusion

The JSP engine was modified to not escape EL expressions when
they are within a character block and don't have a preceding
escape character.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 8.5.5.12, 9.0.0.5, and 17.0.0.2.  Please refer to the
