Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects all users of IBM MQ Managed File Transfer for
    z/OS Version 9 Release 0 Modification 0.

    Platforms affected:
    z/OS

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
When MQ Managed File Transfer generated SMF89 records for SCRT
reporting, the records always contained the base product
    identifier (PID), 5655-MF9.

When running under the MQ Advanced or MQ Advanced VUE software
bundles the SMF89 records should have contained the MQ Advanced
or MQ Advanced VUE PID instead:
    MQ Advanced - 5655-AV9
    MQ Advanced VUE - 5655-AV1

Problem conclusion

  • This APAR removes the need to manually annotate SCRT reports for
MQ Managed File Transfer to indicate use of an MQ software
    bundle.

A new configuration property "productId" has been added to allow
the PID recorded to be overridden. This property specifies the
type of PID against which MQ Managed File Transfer usage is to
be recorded. The value for productId can be set by running the
new fteSetProductId command (which has been introduced as part
of this APAR) specifying one of the values described below:

    ************************************************************
    Value: MFT
Description: Managed File Transfer is a standalone MQ for z/OS
product, with product ID 5655-MF9. This is the default value.

    Value: Advanced
Description: Managed File Transfer is part of an IBM MQ Advanced
for z/OS product, with product ID 5655-AV9.

    Value: AdvancedVue
Description: Managed File Transfer is part of an IBM MQ Advanced
for z/OS, Value Unit Edition product, with product ID 5655-AV1.
    ************************************************************

The value specified is stored in the MQ Managed File Transfer
    configuration file installation.properties

Unless running MQ Advanced or MQ Advanced VUE the default value
    can be used.

Note that fteSetProductId should only be run after at least one
coordination queue manager has been defined.

fteDisplayVersion -v has been updated to display the product id,
if run on z/OS and the product id has been specified.

For information on the new productId property and the
fteSetProductId command, refer to the following topics in the MQ
