Error description

  • The customer upgraded their Test MQ environment.
    They are experiencing the following dump at startup, but the
    queue manager appears to function without issues.
    .
    TITLE CSQ1,ABN=5C6-00C94510,U=SYSOPR  ,C=ccccc.nnn.DMC -
    CSQIMGES,M=CSQGFRCV,LOC=CSQILPLM.CSQIMGES
    .
    CSQI_ABEND_CFM_ERROR ('00C94510'x) - CFM problem recognised in
                                         DMC
    .
    The change team has reviewed the dump. The 5C6-00C94510 issued
    by CSQIMGES is occurring as MHND.pDPIVSA (addr of IVSA for
    SYSTEM.PENDING.DATA.QUEUE) is 0. This abend occurs when
    SYSTEM.PENDING.DATA.QUEUE is get-disabled. CSQMDPAT detects
    that this is the case, but does not close the queue correctly.
    This leads to subsequent problems such as the 5C6-00C94510
    issued by CSQIMGES.

Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM MQ for z/OS Version 9 *

    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If the SYSTEM.PENDING.DATA.QUEUE is *
    * GET disabled then the following abend *
    * will be seen shortly after the queue *
    *                      manager is started:-                    *
    * Abend 0C4 in CSQIMGES if the queue *
    * manager is not in a queue sharing *
    *                      group.                                  *
    *                      Abend S5C6-00C94510 if the queue        *
    * manager is in a queue sharing group. *
    ****************************************************************
    If the SYSTEM.PENDING.DATA.QUEUE is GET disabled then CSQMDPAT
    will attempt to close the queue, but the ?MQCLOSE fails with a
    bad return code so certain queue handles and pointers are not
    reset.
    This means that when CSQMDPAT next runs it will cause CSQIMGES
    to be invoked which will fail with 5C6-00C94510.
    If the queue manager is not in a QSG then CSQIMGES fails 0C4
    when it tries to access the ETHR, which doesn't exist in a
    qmgr not in a QSG.

Problem conclusion

  • CSQMDPAT has been changed so that the ?MQCLOSE will not
    produce a bad lretcode if the SYSTEM.PENDING.DATA.QUEUE is GET
    disabled thus avoiding the abends.
