Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the DB2 Administration Tool for *
    *                 z/OS and the DB2 Object Comparison Tool      *
    * for z/OS who use the change management *
    * batch (CM Batch) interface functionality *
    * to compare and run changes. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When using the CM Batch interface to *
    * compare source DDL with target catalog, *
    * a set of delta change statements are *
    * generated that needs to be registered *
    * as a change, follwed by ananalyze and *
    * run to apply the desired changes to *
    * the catalog. A pure batch method is *
    * needed to eliminate this process of *
    * going through ISPF panels change *
    * management, by providing the ability *
    * to generate and run the changes via *
    *                      a work statement list (WSL).            *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    Customer needs the ability to generate a non-CM Work Statement
    List (WSL) using the CM Batch interface and also the ability to
    run the non-CM Work Statement List via the CM batch interface,
    so that they do not have to track and execute them via the ISPF
    panels change management process.

    The following two new batch parameters are added to provide this
    enhancement:

    ACTION_GENERATE_WSL:
      The action_generate_wsl parameter specifies whether to
      generate a work statement list when action_compare='Y'. This
      option is ignored when action_compare parameter is not
      provided or set to 'N'.

      Values: Y, N
      Y - A work statement list will be generated when
          action_compare= Y .  Such a work statement list
          can be run directly by specifying action_run_wsl= Y
      N - Do not generate a work statement list.
      Default:  N

    ACTION_RUN_WSL:
      The action_run_wsl parameter specifies whether to run a work
      statement list.

      Values: Y, N
      Y - Run the work statement list. PDS_FOR_WSL parameter must
          be provided to indicate the PDS where the work statement
          list resides. WOKLIST_NAME parameter must be provided to
          specify the PDS member.
      N - Do not run a Work statement list.
      Default:  N

    The following existing batch parameters are used to specify work
    statement list information:

    PDS_FOR_WSL, WORKLIST_NAME

    Following new messages are added:

    ADB9966I
    Type: Informational
    Message: Compare CHG . . . . . : >data set name<
    User action: None
    System action: Processing continues

    ADB9967I
    Type: Informational
    Message: Compare IFF PDS . . . : >data set name<
    User action: None
    System action: Processing continues

    ADB9968E
    Type: Error
    Message: The >action parameter name< action parameter is
    enabled. This action parameter can be enabled only when the
    following action parameter is enabled.
    User action: Fix the parameter value and try again.
    System action: Processing stops

    ADB9969E
    Type: Error
    Message: The >action parameter name< action parameter is
    enabled. This action parameter is in conflict with at least
    one other parameter that is enabled.
    User action: Fix the parameter value and try again.
    System action: Processing stops
