Error description

  • IIB on z/OS provides console command versions of some of its
mqsi commands. If an IIB console command is issued and fails,
then any subsequent run of the same command fails, even if it
is submitted with correct parameters and is expected to
succeed. For example, the following recreate scenario uses the
mqsiwebuseradmin console command (WUA) to illustrate the defect:

. Issue the mqsiwebuseradmin (WUA) console command to list the
web users defined (none are currently defined so IIB
correctly reports no user accounts have been defined):

    F MQ20BRK,WUA L=YES
+BIP2836I (Msg 1/1) MQ20BRK 2 NO WEB USER ACCOUNTS HAVE BEEN
    DEFINED.
    +BIP8071I MQ20BRK 2 Successful command completion.

. Issue the delete of an undefined web user account, which
    fails as expected:

    F MQ20BRK,WUA D=YES,U='UNKNOWN_USER'
+BIP2833E (Msg 1/1) MQ20BRK 2 THE REFERENCED WEB USER ACCOUNT
    'UNKNOWN_USER' DOES NOT EXIST.
+BIP8081E MQ20BRK 2 An error occurred while processing the
    command.

. Reissue the WUA list command, which should succeed as before,
but this time it fails. This is not expected:

    F MQ20BRK,WUA L=YES
+BIP8081E MQ20BRK 2 An error occurred while processing the
    command.

Local fix

  • LOCAL FIX:Ø
Customers can use the batch (JCL) commands instead of the
console version of the command to circumvent the problem.

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
If an IIB console commands fails the first time it is issued,
even if the error is expected, then any subsequent issue of the
same command may unexpectedly fail. For example, issuing
mqsiwebuseradmin (WUA) to delete an undefined web user account
    fails as expected:

    16:48:01.88 CLAPPER£ 00000280 F MQ20BRK,WUA
    D=YES,U='UNKNOWN_USER'
    16:48:02.01 STC39089 00000080 +BIP2833E (Msg 1/1) MQ20BRK 2 THE
REFERENCED WEB USER ACCOUNT 'UNKNOWN_USER' DOES NOT EXIST.
    16:48:02.01 STC39089 00000080 +BIP8081E MQ20BRK 2 An error
    occurred while processing the command.

The next time the WUA command is run to list the web users that
are defined , it fails unexpectedly:

    16:48:14.96 CLAPPER£ 00000280 F MQ20BRK,WUA L=YES
    16:48:15.07 STC39089 00000080 +BIP8081E MQ20BRK 2 An error
    occurred while processing the command.

This APAR affects the following console commands:

    mqsichangeresourcestats
    mqsideploy
    mqsireloadsecurity
    mqsireportresourcestats
