Error description

  • After upgrade from MQ V7.1 the SYSTCPD DD Statement to
    resolve DNS in a different TCPIP stack is ignored.
    An LPAR with 2 TCPIP stacks is used. After migration of MQ
    the stack defined in SYSTCPD is no longer be used.

    A resolver trace shows that the default TCPIP stack
    /etc/resolve.conf
    is being used, instead the one defined in SYSTCPD.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * The TCP/IP configuration defined in the Channel Initiator's *
    * SYSTCPD DD statement is ignored when /etc/resolv.conf is *
    * defined in HFS or zFS on the system. *

    * None                                                         *
    ****************************************************************
    The internal interface used by MQ for for TCP/IP nameserver
    lookups has changed. This new interface uses a different set of
    precedence rules to locate the TCP/IP configuration. When a
    /etc/resolv.conf configuration is found in HFS or zFS, this is
    used in preference to a Chinit specific SYSTCPD configuration.
    This is different from the order of precedence in version 7 of
    MQ and prevents customers from overriding the TCP/IP
    configuration at a per-Chinit level when a system-wide
    /etc/resolv.conf file exists.

Problem conclusion

  • Processing has been amended to ensure that a Chinit-specific
    SYSTCPD DD takes precedence over /etc/resolv.conf. If the
    configuration at /etc/resolv.conf should be used, then the
    Chinit SYSTCPD DD should be removed.
