APAR status

Error description

  • xscmd returns a non-zero return code when the command is run
    successfully, and it returns 255 (out of index) when the
    command fails with an error.

    The xscmd command line tool returns 0 even when the command
    fails. On Unix, it returns 255 when an unexpected error occurs.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Problem is fixed in the 8.6.1.1 release.  The return codes of
    xscmd are "Success: 0", "Unexpected error: 1", "Error: 3"
