Error description
In Rational Developer for z System (RDz) host version 9.5.0.1, when there is a long wait for an operation, a number of .dstoreStackTrace*.txt log files will get generated for the user associated with the operation. These files can be ignored and do not cause any problems.
Local fix
Remove the .dstoreStackTrace*.txt files manually.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: 01.All z/OS Explorer users * * 02.system programmer * * 03.All zOS Explorer and IDz users * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 01.unable to gather host logs * * 02.Enhancement to do SMP/E RECEIVE * * from tape. * * 03.In Rational Developer for z System * * (RDz) host version 9.5.0.1, or z/OS * * Explorer (all versions), when there * * is a long wait for an operation, a * * number of .dstoreStackTrace*.txt * * log files will get generated for * * the user associated with the * * operation. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** 01.When the _RSE_JAVAOPTS becomes longer than 1024 characters, the log gathering tool fails to collect host logs (server, audit and user). 02.Enhancement to do SMP/E RECEIVE from tape. 03.Using RDz 9.5.0.1 or z/OS Explorer host, generation of .dstoreStackTrace*.txt files cannot be disabled for an operation with a long wait. Generation of .dstoreStackTrace.*.txt is enabled as default but should be disabled and enabled only on demand and by request of IBM support.
Problem conclusion
01.syscall readfile is limited to 1024 characters per line. A new routine was created that does not have this line length limitation. 02.Enhancement to do SMP/E RECEIVE from tape. 03.Server code is updated to disable generation of .dstoreStackTrace.*.txt files by default and to introduce an internal configuration setting that would enable it at request of IBM support.
