APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The initial connect to the websocket server via
    ws://host:port/ContextRoot/EndPoint

is converted to an HTTP servlet request
    http://host:port/ContextRoot/EndPoint

and is seen by the WorkClassifier so that CICS can enable
    the
thread. However, further requests do not invoke the
    WorkClassifier. They come into the
    ExecutorServiceTaskInterceptor as
    com.ibm.ws.tcpchannel.internal.WorkQueueManager$Worker
runnables and can not be identified as websocket requests,
    so
CICS can't bind the thread to a CICS transaction.

Subsequent WebSocket requests are not using the Executor
returned from the classify() call on the WorkClassifier SPI.
This Executor needs to be used when driving subsequent requests.
The initial connect to the WebSocket server is via
ws://host:port/ContextRoot/EndPoint and is converted to an HTTP
    Servlet request http://host:port/ContextRoot/EndPoint and is
seen by the WorkClassifier so that CICS can enable the thread.

Problem conclusion

  • Code has modified to preserve the Executor returned from the
WorkClassifier.classify() call and use this Executor on
subsequent WebSocket requests for this connection.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix
pack 16.0.0.3. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page for
