    The following enhancements are added to Workload Simulator:
    - Allows the user to start and stop a TCP/IP data trace specific
     to a client IP address and to a server port. This function
     can be accessed thru the WSim/ISPF interface panel option 4.1,
     thru the WSim Test Manager ISPF interface panel 'Add New
     Testcase' option 7, or by invoking the WSim tracing facility,
     ITPIPTRX, using JCL.To perform this function, WSim uses the
     z/OS Communication Server real-time application-controlled
     TCP/IP trace Network Management Interface (NMI).
    - Provides function to format data trace records utilizing the
     z/OS Communication Server trace record formatting NMI. This
     function can be accessed thru the WSim/ISPF interface panel
     option 4.2, or by invoking the WSim utility program, ITPIPFMT,
     using JCL.
    - Provides function to process TCP/IP HTTP packet and data trace
     records saved in a data set to generate Structured Translator
     Language (STL). This function can be accessed thru the
     WSim/ISPF interface panel option 5.4, thru the WSim Test
     Manager ISPF interface panel Add New Testcase option 8, or
     by invoking the WSim STL generating facility, ITPIPGEN, using
      JCL.
    - For a client coded in a TCP/IP network definition, allows the
     user to specify, with the PATH= operand, the number of times a
     path defined in a PATH statement will be executed during a
     simulation.

    Requirements:
    - Workload Simulator 1.1
    - z/OS 2.1 to utilize the z/OS Communication Server real-time
     application-controlled TCP/IP trace Network Management
     Interface (NMI)
    - To use the TCP/IP Trace Utility a user must have READ access
     to the following SAF resource profiles in the SERVAUTH class:
    * EZB.TRCCTL.sysname.tcpname.OPEN
    * EZB.TRCCTL.sysname.tcpname.DATTRACE
     where:
     * sysname is the MVS system name where the TCP/IP stack is
       running
     * tcpname is the TCP/IP stack job name
    - To use the TCP/IP Trace Utility to obtain a trace in clear
     text for a server using AT-TLS for message encryption the user
     will require READ access to the following SAF resource profile
     in the SERVAUTH class:
     *         EZB.TRCSEC.sysname.tcpname.ATTLS

    Note: When simulating TCP/IP clients, WSim does not have support
         for establishing a secure connection using SSL. Therefore
         when using WSim to simulate a client that requires a
         secure connection you will need to define a TCP/IP
         networking policy to ensure the simulated client uses
         AT-TLS.

    For further information on the SAF resources refer to the z/OS
     Communications Server IP Programmer's Guide and Reference.
    For further information on TCP/IP networking policies refer to
     the z/OS Communications Server IP Configuration Guide and the
     z/OS Communications Server IP Configuration Reference.

Problem conclusion

  • This PTF repairs prev PTF UI34087
    If the ITERATE functionality that was introduced in that PTF
    is used there is a permanent restriction that there must be no
    more than 25 PATH statements in a message generation deck.
    Like wise there can be no more than 25 repeats.
