APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
When performing a sort of large files, if the machine where the sort is being run on does not have enough tmp or disk space (or if the ulimits are low), then the exe SEGVs instead of issuing a useful error message.

Problem summary
USERS AFFECTED: COBOL for AIX users with STL relative or indexed files may be affected by this issue. PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A missing error check could cause a SEGV. There was a code path that did not properly propagate write errors; typically for ulimit or quota exceeded scenarios.
Problem conclusion
The fix was to improve the error detection and propagation for such scenarios.
Temporary fix
