APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • RC=8 TYPE=COBOL AES1004E: Found unsupported syntax MCC4BFP0 in
    line 1089.
message may occur when scanning certain COBOL source.
Alternate symptom can be DMH2111E: Record format invalid :
    requires prior LIT ''
message when scanning COBOL source code on z/OS that includes
EBCDIC characters CR (x'0D') Carriage Return, or LF (x'25')
Line Feed defined in a literal's VALUE.

Local fix

  • none, unless EBCDIC x'OD' and x'25' characters are changed or
removed from source code during scanning.

Problem summary

  • Mainframe source code contained special EBCDIC character
(0x25), this character was preventing correct meta-data storage
into the database, causing an error.

Problem conclusion

  • RAA code changed to remove special UTF-8 characters 0x80 - 0x9F
and replace them by PERIOD( . ) as 0x25 EBCDIC gets translated
into 0x85 in UTF-8 character set, and other characters in the
    range are also affected.

Temporary fix
