PI45636: RECEIVE MESSAGE FMNIA059 WHEN ATTEMPTING TO EDIT AN IMS DATABASE USING FILE MANAGER/IMS

APAR status

Error description

• When attempting to edit an IMS database using a static PSB,
  with PROCOPT=A on all segments except for one segment with
  PROCOPT=I, receive the following message:
   PCB for database xxxxxxxx has PROCOPT=A; the function cannot
  be performed with these processing options.

  *                      can be performed with these options.    *
  *                      2. FM/IMS function using a static PSB   *
  *                      to access a DEDB database issues error  *
  *                      message FMNIA015 "IMS read failed - An  *
  *                      attempt to read an IMS segment has      *
  *                      failed. The function has been           *
  *                      terminated." occurring when the PROCOPT *
  *                      of the specified PCB includes the P     *
  *                      option.                                 *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF.                      *
  ****************************************************************
  1. The problem occurs when one or more of the SENSEG statements
  within the specified PCB have a PROCOPT of I or K.
  2. The problem occurs because IMS issues the GC status code when
  an attempt is made to cross a unit-of-work boundary.
  

Problem conclusion

• 1. FM/IMS has been modified to:
  - handle PCBs with PROCOPT=I SENSEG statements.
  - issue error message FMNIB567 when the PCB has PROCOPT=K SENSEG
  statements.
  2. FM/IMS has been modified to reissue the DL/I call when the
  call receives a GC status code.
