Error description

  • An application creates shared dynamic queues and puts messages.
    After the messages are read, the queues are deleted.

    Intermittently, one or more abends occur:

    ABN=5C6-00C90C00,LOC=CSQILPLM.CSQIDGET
    ABN=5C6-00D40017,LOC=CSQMLPLM.CSQMOPNI
    ABN=5C6-00D40017,LOC=CSQMLPLM.CSQMCLS2

    The problem is a timing issue in the processing in two queue
    managers in the Queue Sharing Group (QSG).

    On one queue manager, an application is opening a new permanent
    dynamic shared queue, and the thread is in the process of
    creating the Coupling Facility (CF) list header entry for the
    queue.

    On another member of the QSG, the CF structure is being opened
    for the first time since the queue manager started, and the
    queue manager is attempting to resynchronise the contents of
    the CF structure with the in-storage queue objects and the
    contents of DB2.

    The timing issue leads to the abend.

    ****************************************************************
    One queue manager in a Queue Sharing Group (QSG) creates a new
    shared dynamic queue. At the point at which it has created the
    CF list header entry, another qmgr, resynchronising DB2 and
    CF structure contents, deletes the newly created LHQC since
    it was originally marked for deletion and has the same list
    header number. When the first qmgr tries to update the new
    queue, the LHQC has now been deleted from the CF structure.
    The update fails and the 5C6 abends occur.

Problem conclusion

  • The fixed code no longer deletes the LHQC during
    resynchronisation.
