Your Web Services application in WebSphere V8.5.5.4 or later where the interim Fix for APAR PI19074 is included might exeprience unexpected results if the Web Application where the Web services application is deployed also uses CDI annotations. . PI19074: WebBeans context with scope type annotation @RequestScoped does not exist within current thread: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1PI19074 . Our customers reported this problem in V8.5.5.3 with the interim Fix for APAR PI19074 installed and V8.5.5.4.

Problem conclusion
A change was made to the code used to acquire CDI Application Scopes, which reoslves the issue. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 8.0.0.12 and 8.5.5.8.
