Error description
Unpredictable results occur in an application after issuing an ATTACH. In the description of ATTACH in the z/OS MVS Assembler Services Reference, registers 2-12 are defined as volatile across the ATTACH and into the subtask. If the application depends on the values of these registers but does not restore them after an ATTACH, then problems can occur after Debug Tool modifies R2.

Save registers before issuing an ATTACH macro, and restore afterward.
