    ****************************************************************
When an application tries to access a stopped object, a claim
request against the stopped object is processed and rejected by
    DB2 immediately. DB2 issues MSGDSNT501I, application receives
    SQLCODE904 (A required resource is unavailable), RC00C90081
(An attempt was made to allocate a resource that is stopped for
    all access).

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix

Comments

  • A new online ZPARM RETRY_STOPPED_OBJECTS can be used to enable
DB2 to retry a claim request against a stopped object up to the
IRLM timeout limit before rejecting the request. Valid settings
are NO and YES; the default is NO. MSGDSNT501I may be issued
once on the first claim request if RETRY_STOPPED_OBJECTS is set
    to YES.
