Error description

  • The customer is running multiple TM1 applications whose frontend
are websheets displayed by TM1 Web. The server components (TM1
Admin Server, TM1 Server, TM1 Web) are running in their data
center in Germany. An user's web browser may run anywhere, for
instance in Argentina, creating a WAN connection about 13.000 Km
long. The customer upgraded from TM1 Web 9.5.2 to TM1 Web Since running TM1 Web they experience a
disturbing performance pattern they did not see when using TM1
Web 9.5.2: A user opens two or more websheets in his TM1 Web
Client. He jumps to a new websheet: Using the mouse he selects
a new websheet. This selection always triggers a recalculation
of the newly selected websheet which lasts 40 seconds and longer
despite the fact that he made no changes anywhere: He is just
jumping from one websheet to the next. The customer experiences
this disturbing performance pattern despite setting the two
known TM1 Web parameters driving recalculation,
"RecalcOnActivate" and "UseBookRecalcSetting", to "false". It
seems that the recalculation time of the newly selected websheet
depends on two factors: - It grows with the distance between the
user's web browser and the server components of their TM1
application located in Germany. - It grows with the websheets
complexity: The bigger it is, the more TM1 and Excel formulas it
has the longer the recalculation time. This performance pattern
negatively affects the user acceptance of their TM1 Web
driven applications. From the customer's point of view this
performance pattern is a defect, especially as TM1 Web 9.5.2 did
NOT display such a performance pattern. Thus the customer is
requesting a patch to get rid of this performance pattern:
Jumping to a new websheet, using the mouse to select a new
websheet shall not trigger a recalculation. TM1 Web
shall work as did TM1 Web 9.5.2
