Error description

  • WMQFTE 704 Transferring Generation Data Group(GDG) Data Sets
after GDG generations wrap after G9999V00 causing the most
recent generation to be G0001V00 or G0002V00. When using
relative generation number to reference such as GDG(0),
generation G9999V00 was accessed which was incorrect.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
    This issue affects users of:

    - WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition V7.0.4
    - WebSphere MQ Managed File Transfer V8

who transfer data into, or read data from, generation data
groups (GDG) specifying a relative GDG name.

    Platforms affected:
    z/OS

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The algorithm used by WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition and
WebSphere MQ Managed File Transfer Agents to generate relative
GDG names was incorrect. Once the GDG name:

    .G9999V00

was generated, the Agent should have generated the GDG name:

    .G0001V00

However, the algorithm used to generate the GDG name meant that
the GDG name that was actually used was:

    .G9999V00

Problem conclusion

  • WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition and WebSphere MQ Managed File
Transfer Agents have been updated so that, once the GDG name:

    .G9999V00

is generated, the next GDG name that will be generated by the
    Agent will be:

    .G0001V00
