Error description

  • TWSZ ISSUES 'RELEASE' COMMAND IN A 'BLIND'WAY.
'RELEASE' COMMAND IS FIRED AS SOON A1 EVENT IS RECEIVED AT
CONTROLLER SIDE. AT THIS POINT, JES NEEDS TO GO THROUGH
CONVERTER, INTERPRETER PHASE FIRST,UNTIL THE JOB REACHES
THE 'HOLD' QUEUE. DEPENDING ON THE PERFORMANCE OF JES,
    HASP003 RC=84 IS SHOWN UP.
PK25022 DESCRIBES THE SAME SYMPTOMS.IT'S SOLUTION OF A DELAYED
    'RELEASE' COMMAND IS NOT RELIABLE.

    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: TWSZ sometimes issues the 'RELEASE' *
    * command for held jobs too early. *
    *                      HASP003 RC=84 is issued.                *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: APPLY THE PTF FIXING THIS APAR *
    ****************************************************************
When the Controller processes a job card read event, if the
job needs to be released it sends immediately a release data
queue element to the Tracker that submitted the job to issue
    the RELEASE command.
Before being able to accept the command JES needs to go
through the converter/interpreter phase to let the job reach
the HOLD queue. Depending on JES performances the RELEASE
command may be issued before the job is actually on the HOLD
queue and thus error message HASP003 RC=84 is issued.

Problem conclusion

  • A new paramenter, WAITREL, as been added to the OPCOPTS
statement. It defines, in tenth of seconds, the time
that TWSz waits before issuing the RELEASE command
    The default value is 0.
The value of WAITREL can be dynamically updated using the
    modify command /F subs,WAITREL=xx
Valid values for xx are 1-99
