    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Message DFHAM4841 issued unnecessarily. *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    An INQUIRE against a running/suspended task ( Task_A )
returned various parameters of Task_A including its PROFILE
( Profile_A ). In doing so, CICS INQUIRE code obtained ( but did
not release ) a READ lock against Profile_A's definition.
                                                                   .
Task_A ended but with the INQUIRE task either running or
suspended, an attempt to re-install Profile_A failed with
message DFHAM4841 being issued and indicating that:
                                                                   .
" An attempt was made to install object definition restype
resname on the CICS system, but the installation failed because
a read lock was held on that definition by task taskno. "
                                                                   .
In this scenario, it was unnecessary for the INQUIRE code to
retain a READ lock against Profile_A.
                                                                   .

Problem conclusion

  • DFHEIQSK has been modified and will now release the READ lock
    in the aforementioned scenario.
