PI15345: EXCESSIVE NUMBER OF MESSAGES ON THE FMNTMQL QUEUE.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• We have a problem on the queue list screen (FMNPSEL).
  
  We have a queue manager that has 4800 queues. When some people
  list the queues they got the message "Limited Result Shown".
  What it happens, a lot of messages are written in our dead
  letter queue for the reason MQRC_Q_DELETED. The destination
  queue of these message is a dynamic queue:
     FMNTMQL."USERID".xxxxx.

  *                      are generated to the dead letter queue. *

  When viewing a list of queues from a queue manager that has many
  queues there may be limited results shown due to storage
  constraints.
  This causes outstanding queue listing messages from the queue
  manager to not be processed by File Manager before the result
  queue is removed, resulting in those messages appearing on the
  dead letter queue.
  

Problem conclusion

• File Manager has been updated in order to correctly process
  all of the responses of the queue manager list request, even
  when unable to display all of them, before cleaning up the
  temporary queue used to hold the result.
