Error description

  • The customer is running WebSphere MQ V7.1 and they have an MQ
    batch job doing pub/sub that received an abend0C4 in the MQ MSTR
    adress space. The batch job encountered an MQRC 2195
    MQRC_UNEXPECTED_ERROR.

    The Change Team has determined the cause of the problem. The
    ABEND0C4 occurs when testing the storage pointed by CR15. This
    abend is not unexpected and recovery routine CSQGFRCV has code
    to retry from this, and no dump should be taken and processing
    should continue. However, there is a problem with the retry code
    when the 0C4 occurs when first setting up the FRE, as
    FRESPREP will be zero, which leads to the 0C4 dump being taken.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: MQPUT returns MQRC 2195 *
    *                      (MQRC_UNEXPECTED_ERROR) and generates   *
    * 0C4 abend in CSQMTPUT when publishing *

    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    CSQMTPUT generates a 0C4 abend when establishing the recovery
    environment to intercept exceptions and abends. The recovery
    routine CSQGFRCV does not take the correct action to retry
    the process in CSQMTPUT avoiding generating the dump.

Problem conclusion

  • CSQGFRCV recovery routine used by CSQMTPUT has been changed
    to take the correct retry action resuming the process in
    CSQMTPUT, and avoiding the generation of the 0C4 dump.
