PI08262: IFCID 25 DOES NOT INCLUDE ZIIP ON CP TIME SPENT IN DB2 SORT

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When not all zIIP eligible workload in DB2 Sort for z/OS can be
  executed on zIIP then this zIIP on CP time is not captured in
  any field in IFCID 25 so that the total CPU time does not match
  SMF 30 record values.
  

Local fix

• Consult SMF 30 records for zIIP on CP time.
  

Problem summary

  *                 for z/OS with zIIPs who capture IFCID 25     *

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Fields QW0025UC and QW0025SC do not     *
  *                      account for zIIP on CP time spent in    *
  *                      DB2 Sort for z/OS enclaves. This may    *
  *                      cause a mismatch between CPU times      *
  *                      reported in QW0025UC and SMF30CPT.      *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply corrective PTF when available          *

  Some workloads scheduled for zIIPs in DB2 Sort for z/OS may
  actually be executed on standard processors when no zIIPs are
  currently available. This standard CPU time, however, is not
  part of the CPU time fields QW0025UC and QW0025SC in IFCID 25.
  This may lead to minor differences between times reported in
  QW0025UC and SMF30CPT.
  

Problem conclusion

• DB2 Sort will provide a PTF for APAR PI08309 to return the zIIP
  on CP time to DB2. DB2 utilities will include this information
  in IFCID 25 in fields QW0025UC and QW0025SC when the PTF for
  PI08309 is installed.
