APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When WorkTimeout is configured in the asynchbeans WorkManager,
    the WorkTimeout Listener alarms are still being fired even
    after the Work.run() has completed, resulting in a call to
    Work.release().

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Asyncbeans Work.release() is being *
    *                      invoked after the Work.run() has        *
    * exited when WorkTimeout is configured *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    WorkTimeout listener alarms are used internally by the
    asynchbeans component to handle the WorkTimeout and upon the
    completion of the work well within the work timeout, these
    WorkTimeoutListener alarms should get cancelled. However due
    to a programatic error, these alarms were not getting
    cancelled and thereby these alarms fire incorrectly and result
    in the invocation of Work.release() even after the Work.run()
    has exited.

Problem conclusion

  • The WebSphere asynchbeans component has been corrected to
    have the WorkTimeout alarms cancelled appropriately and
    prevent the incorrect invocation of Work.release()

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix packs 7.0.0.33, 8.0.0.9, and 8.5.5.3. Please refer to the
