PI04776: PROBLEM TRYING TO LOAD DATA THAT WAS CREATED OUTSIDE OF FM/IMS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Load of children not successful. The data FM/IMS is attempting
  to load has IMS logical children segments without it's logical
  parents. This is due to the fact the data was created outside
  of FM/IMS. To allow the load of this data, the FM/IMS LOAD
  process will need to be modified to not terminate if it
  receives a GE IMS status code.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 1. The Load issues the diagnostic       *
  *                      'Insert failed with status code II and  *
  *                      attempt to retrieve existing segment    *
  *                      failed - status code xx' when it was    *
  *                      the insert that failed with a status    *
  *                      code of xx and the Load had not made    *
  *                      any attempt to retrieve the existing    *
  *                      segment.                                *
  *                                                              *
  *                      2. Load is terminated when an attempt   *
  *                      to insert a segment receives a status   *
  *                      code of GE.                             *
  *                                                              *
  *                      3. AbendIMSU0775 when running a Load in *
  *                      BMP mode. The problem occurs when the   *
  *                      Load file contains a long sequence of   *
  *                      segment occurrences that have a         *
  *                      nonunique key or no key.                *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF.                      *
  ****************************************************************
  3. The U0775 abend occurs when the amount of storage specified
  in the PIMAX parameter is exhausted. This storage is exhausted
  because the Load does not issue checkpoints while it is
  inserting segments with a nonunique key or no key.
  

Problem conclusion

• FM/IMS Load has been modified to:
  1. issue the diagnostic 'Insert failed - status code xx' when
  the insert fails with a status code of xx.
  2. not terminate when an attempt to insert a segment receives a
  status code of GE.
  3. not put checkpointing on hold while it is inserting segments
  with a nonunique key or no key.
