Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: FM/IMS Edit and Browse users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The following problems occur when the * * database that the user is editing has * * no data or none of its data is * * available. * * * * 1. AbendS0C4 after issuing the CANCEL * * command (F12) on the Insert Root * * Segment panel. * * Abend details: * * System abend 0C4 reason code X'4' in * * module FMNMOD1 CSECT FMN1ETOS at offset * * X'67E'. * * FM-1408 * * * * 2. AbendS0C4 after editing data on the * * Insert Root Segment panel when the * * Insert Format is SNGL. * * Abend details: * * System abend 0C4 reason code X'11' in * * module FMNMAIN CSECT FMNRDR2 at offset * * X'9208'. * * * * 3. FM/IMS exits the Edit session and * * displays one of the following messages * * on the Edit Entry or Database Data Set * * Specification panel when the user * * issues the UP (F7) or TOP command on * * the IMS data panel. * * - FMNIA015 'IMS read failed' * * - FMNBA009 'Insufficient virtual * * storage available' * * - FMNIA194 'The database is empty. Use * * the INSERT primary command to insert a * * root segment or press PF3/PF12 to * * exit.' * * FM-1407 * * * * 4. If a user attempts to edit a DEDB * * when none of its areas are available, * * FM/IMS displays the IMS data panel with * * the message "No areas are available or * * all the available areas are empty. Use * * INSERT command to insert a root segment * * or press PF3 to exit." You cannot edit * * a DEDB when none of its areas are * * available, so FM/IMS should just * * redisplay the FM/IMS Edit Entry panel * * with the message "Database * * unavailable". * * FM-1598 * * * * 5. FM/IMS hangs after the user issues a * * FIND command against a DEDB. The * * problem occurs when the /DBRECOVERY * * command is used to stop programs * * accessing the DEDB. * * FM-1588 * * * * 6. The NEXT, PREV, FE, FIND, RFIND, CE, * * CHANGE, RCHANGE, VIEW, ZOOM and SEGSTAT * * commands cannot be run when a database * * has no data or none of its data is * * available. However, FM/IMS still * * attempts to run them. It should just * * issue message FMNIA195 'The xxx command * * is not active when the database has no * * data or none of its data is available.' * * and return control to the user. * * * * Other problems: * * 7. FM/IMS does not update the database * * with the changes that the CE command * * makes when it is issued without the ALL * * parameter. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. * **************************************************************** Various problems with empty databases.
