Error description

  • When an ARCHIVE LOG command is issued, an archive log command
record is written to the current active log, and the next
active log is switched to. After this is complete, a second
archive log command record is written to the start of the new
active log. The usual result of this is that the last record in
the previous log will be an archive log command record, and the
first record in the new log will also be an archive log command
    record.

CSQ1LOGP active and archive log processing looks for these
archive log command records, and if it finds one, it skips to
the next active/archive log. The problem occurs when the
archive log command record is not the first record in a log.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Certain archive and active logs may *
    * cause the standalone log reader *
    *                      (CSQ1LOGP) to abend with 5C6-00F10101.  *
    ****************************************************************
Archive or active logs taken with a QMGR under load (without
MODE(QUIESCE) may have a format that CSQ1LOGP cannot read.

CSQ1LOGP expects the ARCHIVE LOG command to be the first and
last record in a log. In the error cases, the first ARCHIVE LOG
is 6 records into the log, and when this is seen it forces a
    dataset switch.

This causes an S5C6 abend and terminates CSQ1LOGP.

Problem conclusion

  • The standalone log reader now checks the next record before
performing a dataset switch. If this record is valid, the
dataset is not switched, and if it is invalid, the switch
    proceeds.
