Error description

  • The APARs

            PH21007 (v6.3 January 2020 PTF)
            PH20362 (v6.2 February 2020 PTF)
            PH22131 (v6.1 February 2020 PTF)

made a change to simplify migration when using
ZONEDATA(NOPFD|MIG), but has the incorrect effect on MOVEs of
copying the sign of the signed zoned data source item to the
    unsigned zoned data item target.

Local fix

  • The problem is bypassed using ZONEDATA(PFD), but raise issues
elsewhere if the program in dependent on ZONEDATA(NOPFD|MIG).

    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. *
    ****************************************************************
To achieve better compatibility with V4.2 during zoned decimal
to zoned decimal moves when the sender contains invalid data, a
change was made to avoid fixing up the sign nibble of the
receiver in certain cases, but the condition under which the
sign fix up was avoided was applied too broadly.

Problem conclusion

  • The compiler was updated so that V4.2 compatibility is improved
for zoned decimal to zoned decimal moves when the sender
contains bad data, but this new behavior is now done under the
    correct conditions.
